Server Update – October 2022
Over the last few months since the huge update to the server in January, we have heard a lot of feedback about those changes.
We are addressing the feedback with a supplementary update.
A brief review of the last update
The last update took the position that any mechanics which “repurpose” gameplay elements in order gain disproportionate advantage – are not in line with the “true” spirit of the game (at least, for the aims of True Minecraft, specifically). The last update provided enhancements to the difficulty of the game, since we argued that newer versions lost some of the spirit of the original versions, and intention, of what True Minecraft sees as the ideals of Minecraft.
Modifications to the previous update
After hearing concerns from many members of the community about how hard it is to survive on the server, we have made modifications to the difficulty. Special, custom-coded plugins have and will continue to be designed with for our unique needs.
One change from our old setup will be skeletons using arrows such as poison which occur naturally on the server, as opposed to fireballs and rockets. The Ender Dragon will remain difficult, but won't be so difficult, spawning endless blazes and enemies.
Tweaks have been made to farming, the Nether, various mobs, and more. These are just a few examples, with smaller changes being added over time.
How can we have a challenging server, as well as allowing for more engineering and farming creativity?
Previously, all mob farms were effectively disabled. This robbed some of the creativity and enjoyment of creating these farms, in order to hold to our ideals of survival difficulty. For a while, there was no middle ground.
With our update today, mob farms are now possible. But, this comes with one simple difference: the mobs must be able to fight back ensuring a fair battle! So, mob farms will become more like arenas. After a little adjustment, these might even be more fun to build and experiment with! There is more action, engagement, and activity around farms.
Conclusion
If you have read this far, thank you for playing on True Minecraft. Running servers has been a hobby of Space’s for a long time, and he’s happy others can enjoy the server and have a place to hang out online and have fun together. These changes will help to balance the changes brought by the last update, keeping the excitement and challenge of the game.
Enjoy!
